This is an in-country hands-on program with provided shared housing and local team support.

Step into the world of digital engineering and discover how numerical simulations help engineers understand the behavior of structures, materials, and mechanical components. From preparing computational models to analyzing stresses and deformations, explore the techniques used to evaluate engineering performance and support informed design decisions.

Program Overview

The program takes place at an innovative engineering company based at the Lefkippos Technology Park in Athens, where participants receive guidance from experienced engineers working in simulation and computational analysis. Through structured workshops, practical assignments, and engineering case studies, interns develop an understanding of professional CAE workflows and their applications across different industries.

Key Learning Experiences
  • Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE): Understand the principles of computational engineering, digital simulation workflows, and their applications in industrial design and research.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Learn how to prepare and simplify models, generate computational meshes, assess mesh quality, and define appropriate simulation conditions.
  • Structural Analysis: Explore how engineers evaluate stresses, strains, deformations, and structural behaviour under different loading conditions.
  • Simulation-Driven Design: Discover how numerical results support engineering decisions, design improvements, and performance optimisation.
  • Engineering Case Studies: Apply theoretical knowledge through guided exercises and practical analysis of engineering components and systems.
  • Additive Manufacturing: Gain an introduction to 3D printing technologies and their relationship with digital engineering and product development.
Why Choose This Internship?
  • Technical Expertise: Develop a foundation in CAE and FEA, including numerical modelling, mesh generation, structural analysis, and simulation result interpretation.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strengthen problem-solving abilities by evaluating engineering challenges and using computational results to assess design performance.
  • Project Experience: Gain experience preparing technical engineering studies, organising simulation results, and communicating findings through technical reports.
  • Professional Development: Build skills relevant to engineering design, product development, computational analysis, and industrial research.
  • Career Exploration: Discover how simulation technologies are applied across mechanical, aerospace, marine, civil, biomedical, and manufacturing industries.
Who Should Apply?

This internship is ideal for:

  • Mechanical, Aerospace & Marine Engineering Students: Interested in structural analysis, component performance, and computational engineering.

The accommodation is fully furnished (single or double beds), with WiFi, shared with 1-6 other same-sex interns, and located in safe areas with easy access to public transport and close to the internship site. The last night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Private apartments can be arranged in advance, if requested and subject to availability.

Internships start on Mondays and interns have a choice to participate to a program between a minimum of 2 weeks or up to a maximum of 12 weeks .

The program fee includes a free airport pickup on the Sunday before the Monday start date. To qualify for the free pickup interns are required to arrive between 9am-6pm. At the airport interns will be welcomed and transferred to their housing. For interns arriving at an earlier date, a pickup maybe provided if requested and subject to availability.

Adequate information about the city and hosting institution will be sent before arrival. It includes information about the city, local culture, rules, emergency contact numbers and the local team.

Interns should budget 30 Euros (about US$34) for a 30-day unlimited public transport card, 3-5 Euros for breakfast (about US$4-6), 5-10 Euros for a simple lunch (about US$6-12) and 10-20 Euros for a simple dinner (about US$12-24). Greece has many dining options and from many different cuisines ranging from budget to high end depending on the intern’s needs. Most places accept credit/debit cards (Visa & Mastercard only) but interns are advised to carry cash in Euros.

As for Greece, perhaps there is no need for an introduction. It is one of the most popular and safest destinations in the world. Situated in southeast Europe it is blessed with sun, friendly people, rich cuisine and a truly unique landscape that spans from green forests to the deep blue sea. With its 2,500 years of history and its 1,400 islands there is plenty to discover in Greece and it will satisfy the most demanding visitor. Greece is one of the warmest countries in Europe with long, hot & dry summers and mild winters. The popular time to visit Greece is between May to September end. Occasionally heatwaves may occur with temperatures peaking (1-2 days) around 105°F / 41°C.
