Location: Athens or Thessaloniki, Greece
Eligibility requirement: Must be 18 years old or over and preferably with least one year of undergraduate study completed, with a relevant scientific major in social work, health sciences, psychology, nursing, public health, or a related field etc. Interns must have a genuine interest in psychology and commitment to hands-on & observation of psychology-related tasks.

Psychology Shadowing Internship

This is an in-country shadowing program with provided shared housing and local team support.

Discover the field of psychology through a structured internship in Greece, gaining insight into mental health services, community-based psychology, and psychosocial support. Working alongside experienced professionals in nonprofit organizations, you will learn how multidisciplinary teams support individuals, families, and communities, while developing your observational, communication, and reflective skills.

This internship offers psychology students and graduates the chance to:

What to Expect

Participants gain insight into the daily work of psychology-focused nonprofit organizations, developing their observational, interpersonal, and reflective skills. Depending on the selected location and area of interest, key experiences may include:

• Observing support for people with mental health difficulties and learning difficulties.
• Supporting and observing community-based psychology groups focused on emotional expression, self-awareness, communication, and social inclusion.
• Exploring prevention and management of delinquency among adolescents and young people aged 13 to 30.
• Learning about women’s empowerment through psychosocial support, counselling, skills training, and networking with agencies, businesses, and public institutions.
• Exploring psychosocial support for employees experiencing workplace difficulties and unemployed people seeking work.
• Learning about counselling and psychosocial support for children and parents, including speech therapy where available.
• Supporting appropriate educational, community outreach, research, and documentation activities, including reflective writing.

Important Things to Note:
– A program fee deposit of US$350 is required to secure your internship. This deposit is part of the total program fee and is not an additional fee.
– The remaining program fee balance is due 60 days before your internship start date.
– A US$400 refundable security bond may be required for accommodation and/or host sites. It is separate from the program fee and subject to deductions for damage or missing items.
