Poseidon’s Temple, Sounio

SOUNIO

At the southernmost tip of the Athenian Riviera, perched on top of the rocky hill of Cape Sounio, the Ancient Greeks built a magnificent temple to honor the God of the sea, Poseidon. Nowadays the remaining standing columns remind the visitor of the area’s past and offer a unique view of the Aegean sea and one of the most vibrant sunset in the world. The visit is coupled with a relaxed 3-hour swim at the sandy beach right under the temple.
