If you study Agriculture or Biology and interested in research then this program can be tailored just for you. This is your chance to participate in research activities at an agriculture research center, coupled with the change of exploring Greece. You will participate in an internship program that is designed as a holistic experience in learning & living the every day life at an international agriculture research center.

Location: Thessaloniki, Greece
Eligibility requirement: Must be 18 years old or over and preferably with least one year of undergraduate study completed, with a relevant scientific major such as agriculture, viticulture etc. Interns must have a genuine interest in agriculture.

The accommodation is fully furnished (single or double beds), with WiFi, shared with 1-2 other same-sex interns, and located within the research center’s campus with easy access to public transport and close to the city center. The last night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Extra nights of accommodation or private apartments can be arranged in advance, if requested and subject to availability.

Internships start on Mondays and interns have a choice to participate to a program between a minimum of 2 weeks or up to a maximum of 12 weeks .

The program fee includes a free airport pickup on the Sunday before the Monday start date. To qualify for the free pickup interns are required to arrive between 9am-6pm. At the airport interns will be welcomed and transferred to their housing. For interns arriving at an earlier date, a pickup maybe provided if requested and subject to availability.

Adequate information about the city and hosting institution will be sent before arrival. It includes information about the city, local culture, rules, emergency contact numbers and the local team.

Interns should budget 30 Euros (about US$34) for a 30-day unlimited public transport card, 3-5 Euros for breakfast (about US$4-6), 5-10 Euros for a simple lunch (about US$6-12) and 10-20 Euros for a simple dinner (about US$12-24). Greece has many dining options and from many different cuisines ranging from budget to high end depending on the intern’s needs. Most places accept credit/debit cards (Visa & Mastercard only) but interns are advised to carry cash in Euros.

Greece is one of the warmest countries in Europe with long, hot & dry summers and mild winters. The popular time to visit Greece is between May to September end. Occasionally heatwaves may occur with temperatures peaking (1-2 days) around 105°F / 41°C.
