The Veterinary Internship Program is a remarkable opportunity for animal enthusiasts to make a tangible difference in the lives of creatures big and small. Under the mentorship of an experienced professional, interns gain practical veterinary skills, assisting in surgeries, treatment, and overall animal healthcare. Moreover, they contribute to the welfare of rescued animals and engage with the local community to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership. This internship program is a fulfilling blend of animal care, education, and community service, perfect for those passionate about making a meaningful impact on the well-being of animals in Arusha.

Veterinary Internship

With valuable experience, you’ll develop your skills and understanding of different medical professions. Under the mentorship of a qualified veterinarian, interns engage in a multifaceted role that includes animal rescue operations, hands-on veterinary work, and dedicated time at the shelter. This internship is a fulfilling blend of animal care, education, and community service, making it ideal for those passionate about making a meaningful impact on the well-being of animals in Arusha.

Daily Tasks: Work closely with an experienced veterinarian to gain practical skills in surgeries, treatment, and overall animal healthcare. Participate in operations to rescue and provide immediate care to animals in need. Contribute to the welfare of rescued animals through daily activities at the shelter. Raise awareness about responsible pet ownership within the local community. Assist with the treatment of various animals, including donkeys, chickens, cows, dogs, and cats. Work across a basic clinic, providing support in vaccinations, surgeries, and treatment delivery. Accompany the vet to farms and homes around Arusha, learning about common diseases and ailments in Tanzanian animals. Receive advice and training on multiple subjects, contributing to community awareness and responsible animal care.

It is important to note with this program, it is based in a developing country, and medical care offered in Tanzania is much less advanced than in the US. A big aspect of this internship is taking the opportunity to learn and understand the challenges within the lack of medical care available in developing countries. As such, it is important to be prepared for this.
